The Night Comes for Us (2018).

Probably one of the most impactful martial arts movies I can think of, right up there with The Raid and Oldboy. Neither of which are yet on this review site, because I watched them in The Time Before Reviews. This, this is a great movie.

Iko Uwais and Joe Taslim play off against each other in some truly brutal fights by the end – but the whole movie is littered with other great fight scenes and refreshingly clean framing. Also features the best female martial arts fight that I can quickly think of since Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang battled it out a bit in Crouching Tiger, although I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve fallen out of watching martial arts movies in the last few years. A real female hero.

The whole build up to the end contains some solid scenes as well. The fight in Fatih’s apartment. The fight in the back of the police van. The whole cast of characters do fabulously.

This. This is a great movie.
