Re: Born (2016).

Sachi is a little girl with several uncles. She lives with one of them. He doesn’t eat much, smokes too much, runs a grocery store, occasionally has PTSD. But her uncle protects her. Her uncle is incidentally maybe actually a blood relative, who stole her from an evil villain who was brainwashing children into being super soldiers and who is now out to kill her uncle for revenge.

There’s also another super soldier who’s called Abyss Walker (to Mr & Mrs Walker was born a son, Abyss…) who is also out to kill her uncle and is nominally on the same team as the evil villain but it turns out that actually he’s a bit of a psycho.

This movie is beautiful crazy. It is nowhere near as good as The Raid, or The Night Comes for Us but it has some really, really great moments. Tak in the lead role is absolutely outstanding, but the rest of the movie lets him down with uneven narrative and oddly budgeted scenes, such as the rent’a’mob between the hero and his objectives. There are some outstanding fight scenes. It is, regrettably, a little uneven.

I would totally watch this again.
