I have rather mixed feelings about this movie.

First of all, it is beautiful crazy, and I do have an innate weakness for this kind of beautiful crazy. It’s lavishly put together, the characters often have deep and meaningful vignettes, and there is an echoing kind of sadness to some of the things that unfold.

It is meant, however, to be a martial arts movie, and I find those rather weakly shot, with many cuts. There is too much plot, quite a few unresolved loose ends, and not enough martial arts. I think it just comes down to that for me.

I think that on balance, I am pleased that I have seen it. I do not think that I would wish to see it again though.
