I wonder if H.G. Wells ever imagined that by the time 1979 arrived, his writings would be reimagined as, well, this? I bet he didn’t, you know. Because at the very least, if he had, I bet he’d have left a post scriptum that simply read: Please don’t bonk Jack Palance on the head with styrofoam scenery near the end.
As it is, this is a very cheerful and gallant production. Much like my review of Feeders 2, I can’t help but feel that this is another example of ‘if you want to make a movie, you just go on and do it then’, with plenty of genuinely funny moments. We did of course indulge in the RiffTrax version which made it just a little funnier.
