I don’t know quite what I expected this series to be about, or be like, but whatever it was that I was expecting, it wasn’t this.
The easiest way to describe this series without spoiling it too much is probably just to say that it felt a bit like it was trying to pull from the Twin Peaks level of surreal mixed with utter normalcy. Needless to say, it didn’t quite get there. Not quite.
There are a few key characters that pin the series down and most of them are generally quite believable and realistic. There is a little bit of uneven narrative from time to time but forgivable particularly in something that is designed to be dubbed into multiple languages. Sometimes, regrettably, I fear things are lost in translation a little.
It was, in the end, very watchable because I watched it all the way to the end of season 1. It was nowhere near as compelling as Stranger but it was much, much better than some other series that I’ve had on the background while I knit and sew.
