“I bet we could just do the sequel ourselves and it would be just as good as the original.”
The problem is that each great storyteller is unique. You can do something ‘in the style of’, sure, and this is a great example of that. But it’s not as good as the original Hitchcock style. And so I’m not at all ashamed to say that I enjoyed the Rifftrax cover.
Norman Bates is released back into society, and allowed to move right back into the house where all his problems started in the first place with no more support than the telephone number of his psychiatrist. No one eggs his house although the local youth do seem strangely attracted to his filthy basement to have illicit sex in. Sadly, his newfound ability to manage is rapidly whittled away by many people pushing all his buttons to see what will happen. Bonus feature: you can play ‘count how many people impersonate his mother’ in this movie!
