Quatermass has built his second rocket, but after what happened with the first rocket, he’s not been allowed to do anything with it. So he’s busy occupying himself with trying to get permission to do something about a moon base design. The answer is also no. Luckily for the movie, some strange objects are witnessed falling from space. Coupled with a chance strange sighting of a young man with a curious injury, Quatermass has more than enough to keep himself busy.
This instalment of the continuing adventures of Quatermass is a little more complex than the last. There’s a lot more going on, and they get much better sets, too. After some investigation, and going to and fro a bit, Quatermass and a few associates go on an inspection tour of a facility that is purported to be making artificial food. It is not making artificial food.
A hasty regroup at a local village, a mob rousing later, and we’re into the third act.
An enthusiastic storming of a facility later, the truth about what’s in the domes comes out – along with a discovery lurking in space, on the dark side of the earth. If only there was a rocket going spare…
