Alright, so. Okay, Now then.
If you are the kind of person who reads these half-reviews, half-aide-de-memoires devoutly, you may note a certain inconsistency in my approach. For, having simply refused to write a proper review for the last two bad movies running, here I am wasting time (mine and yours), lovingly scribing some details about a far worse movie.
The simple fact remains this: when I sit down to watch a Mystery Science Theatre riff, or indeed, a RiffTrax in these more modern times, I expect the movie to be pretty dire. In fact, I positively demand it. And this was a MST3K riff, and it was bad, and that makes it great.
In the absolute delight that was Soultaker, we have a clumsy retelling of Romeo and Juliet. I had to study that play at some length in secondary school, otherwise I might not have managed to spot the tell tale signs. But, in short, star crossed lovers come to the brink of death, only to defeat an angel of death understudy in the nick of time. There is some dubious medical stuff going on but then the whole movie is dubious, so, well, whatever. This made me laugh. Therefore I enjoyed it.
