We watched this over Halloween (yes, I’m a bit behind with the reviews) with the virtual company of our dear friends (they don’t actually know us, by the way) at RiffTrax.
This movie is funny. It is not meant to be. Or at least, I don’t think it was meant to be. Entirely. I mean, it’s listed in the ‘horror’ genre on IMDb. Although I just had to go and check.
Generations ago, a curse was placed on a family lineage. The curse of Mr Jack the Pumpkin Man! Ahahhahaha!
And now all their hopes rest on a young boy. Etc etc etc.
There’s a subplot about a babysitter that the boy’s dad fancies a bit, her sister who makes poor life choices, and the sister’s boyfriend. And another subplot about a very unlikable couple who reject the spirit of Halloween. And another subplot about charitable funding. And so on.
It is not a good movie but then we never expected it to be, which I think is pretty fair all round.
